My name is Michelle Neriuoka and I am currently a third year Graphic Design student at Alberta University of the Arts. Whether it be designing brand identities, editorial spreads, packages, websites, information posters, wayfinding, or motion graphics my work has a colourful, expressive feel that creates a connection to the target audience. My designs use both vibrant and pastel colours to develop a specific mood that captures the project goal. I incorporate experimental typography within both digital and analog techniques. This allows for the type to become an image in certain projects to showcase the unique letterforms and apply various techniques to the design, such as applying a blur to highlight specific words. This experimentation of new techniques allows me to capture an energetic and fun feel within my designs to represent my personality while capturing the target audiences’ needs.

Inspiration for my designs comes from the world around me and my interests. It can be from passing by a store window and noticing a pattern or colour on an object to taking inspiration from hikes and time spent in nature. These sources of inspiration allow me to create empathy within my work and adds to the emotional connection the audience will develop to the design.
