I Can for Kids

I Can for Kids is a non-profit organization focused on providing food-insecure families with grocery gift cards. They aim to empower families through the ability to choose their own groceries. The booklet takes readers throughout various aspects of children’s lives who are living within a food insecure household. It allows readers to learn about the short- and long-term impacts food insecurity can have and the ways it impacts various parts of someone’s life.

The translucent pages display childlike drawings to showcase how children want their lives to look like compared to the image of their life on the page behind it. This displays children’s reality with the mix of playful drawings to impact the viewer. The cutouts pages keep readers interested and helps to tell the story with the imagery and descriptive words of what children living within food insecurity go through. At the start of the booklet when the information discusses the challenges children go through the words are all separate points that relate to an overall theme. Once the booklet switches to how I Can for Kids gift card program can help families the cutouts form a complete sentence. This showcases how the program supports families and helps to improve their lives.
